My Latest Sale: RSO

Last November, Resource Capital Corp. (NYSE:RSO) announced that it was going to cut its quarterly dividend from 42 cents to 5 cents (-88.1%). Because of this cut, my annual yield for RSO dropped from 9.58% to 1.14%. Ouch! With such a wretched dividend yield, RSO became a good candidate for selling off. Even if sold …

My Latest Buys: ZTR, WDR

There’s really not much to write about for March’s stock buys. First, I added 120 shares (at $11.58 each) of Virtus Global Dividend & Income Fund (NYSE:ZTR) to my dividend investing portfolio for a total of 200 shares of ZTR. Next I bought 40 more shares of Waddell & Reed Financial (NYSE:WDR) at $17.13 per …

Dividend Income Report for February 2017

Well, February is now over and while winter seems to be loosening its grip on the region, it still gets cold and although the snow is long gone the rain and dreary grey skies seem to be an almost permanent fixture. This has been a rough winter, but fortunately we only get these kind of …

My Latest Buy: ZTR

Another month, another dividend stock buy. For February, my stock buy was 80 shares of Virtus Global Dividend & Income Fund Inc (NYSE:ZTR) at $11.38 per share. With a monthly dividend of 11.3 cents per share, that gives this buy an annual yield of 11.92%. Not bad! As I always do when I buy into …

Matching Program 2016

If you’ve been following my quest for dividend income for some time, then you probably know about my little matching program that I use to enhance the available capital to grow my dividend income portfolio and resulting dividend payouts. The first two years of my matching program have worked well, but there was certainly room …

Dividend Income Report for January 2017

January is over, and I am so glad to see it gone. Having lived here in the Portland metro area for 18 years, I’ve noticed that we get a good snowing every four years or so. So, as expected, the weather got pretty ugly during the middle of the month with an abundance of snow …

My Latest Buy: WDR

Thanks to my selling off of DHT, I had sufficient cash to add another stock to my portfolio. I’ve had my eye on Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. (NYSE:WDR) for some time, and when an unexpected drop in WDR’s stock price happened last week, it was an opportune time to buy up some WDR. I …

My Latest Sale: DHT

I don’t sell off dividend stocks very often, mainly because a dividend paying stock is an asset that should be kept for the long haul and shouldn’t be sold for just capital gains. As a dividend investor, it sometimes becomes necessary to dump a stock when its dividend yield falls so low that there’s little …

2016 In Review

Well, the year is over. I can’t believe 2016 is gone. Although it was a  great year in many ways, it was also an unpleasant election year and the world lost many notable entertainers and figures. On the bright side, how was 2016 in my quest for dividend income? Overall, it was a pretty good …

Dividend Income Report for December 2016

December is done, and with it 2016. Here in the Pacific Northwest, our “White Christmas” arrived early, as a cold front and snow storm came through here in the middle of the month and several days later there was barely any trace of snow in the city. While the weather can be rather unpredictable, dividend …
