April showers bring May flowers, and there certainly was plenty of April rain here in the Pacific Northwest (they don’t call it WASHington state for nothing). The stock market wavered a little over the month, but it seemed the market’s mood was generally upbeat. So how was my dividend earnings for the month of April? Well, let’s do the numbers and see
AWP $ 55.00
BGY $ 33.80*
CHW $ 21.00*
CIK $ 22.50*
CLM $ 41.06
CODI $144.00
DHY $ 33.25
DMF $ 10.50
DSM $ 19.25
EAD $ 9.50
EDF $ 45.00*
EHI $ 24.80
EXG $ 92.40*
NCV $ 45.50
NRZ $160.00
PFN $ 36.00
PNNT $ 81.00
RA $ 69.85
VFL $ 15.00
ZTR $ 33.90
TOTAL $993.31
* Includes Return of Capital
While $993.31 is certainly nice, I was hoping for another $1K month, and missed it by a mere $6.69. Arrrghhh!! Sooooo close! If not for the first quarter’s dividend cuts, I certainly would have had my fourth $1K month. <sigh>
As for April’s dividend cuts, it wasn’t too bad. EAD cut its dividend for the second time this year, dropping from a monthly 5.98 cents per share to 5.94 cents (a -0.67% or -$0.07 cut). It’s a tiny imperceptible nick, but still a cut.
Other than the slightly disappointing dividend total, April was a solid month and I’m happy with that.

SO CLOSE! Hope that it fuels you to go that much harder and get after it. LETS GO!!!

Thanks for writing Lanny! Falling short of a goal by a larger degree never feels as bad as when one fails by a very narrow margin. Now I know how it feels when a runner or cyclist misses the top spot by a fraction of a second. In my case, I fell short of another $1K month by mere pocket change. I will certainly have to step up my game to offset the damage caused by the recent dividend cuts. Thanks for the encouraging words.
